Engineers

  • Riley Hill

Riley has been engineering and producing music, playing in bands and working on his own music in Winnipeg for nearly two decades.

He has expertise ranging from capturing the way a band sounds live to building an entire production from scratch. As a producer or mixer Riley has worked with artists like Zoongidewin, Warming, Living Hour, Merin, Winona Forever, Ygretz and À La Mode.

At No Fun Club, Riley is the resident computer / signal flow nerd guy who helps other engineers and producers when they “gotta go fast”. As a recording engineer/editor at the studio Riley has worked alongside such artists and producers as Deerhoof & Mike Bridavsky, Andrina Turenne & Grant Siemans, Holy Fuck, Hawksley Workman, Murray Pulver and Dale Penner.

In his free time Riley makes electronic music and is experienced in sound design, modular synthesis and recording/mixing/editing in an uncommonly varied number of DAW’s.

He always aims to create a comfortable and non-judgmental atmosphere during recording sessions. If you want to work with Riley, have a tech question about the space, or if you’re a freelance engineer/producer wanting to bring your own projects into the studio, give him a shout.

Interested in all approaches to music production, he’s been fortunate to work with a diverse range of talent across numerous genres.

His focus is on encouraging artists to be themselves while helping them to capture the sometimes elusive sounds in their head.

  • Drew Riekman

Drew Riekman is a lifelong touring musician, known mostly for his tenure in the band Blessed but also for recording, composing, and touring with Chastity, Oh No!, Yoko, and a myriad of other projects.

A desire to create a welcoming and approachable studio experience guided a philosophy over the course of his near two decades in the industry. Being actively involved in the recording process and listening to an artists' desires are first and foremost. Making sure artists feel comfortable in the studio while creating the space to learn and grow with each other while making art is paramount. Initially working under the guidance of head engineers at Rain City Recorders in Vancouver, Drew now spends his days recording at No Fun Club in Winnipeg or DCR Recording.

His credits for arrangement, production, recording, or mixing include Tunic, Bummer, Blessed, Holy Fuck, Kristin Witko and more, from a wide swath of genres. He’s had the good fortune of working on projects with John Congleton, Jace Lasek, John McEntire, and Corin Roddick.

Drew prides himself on being malleable and bringing out the desired record from the artists he engages with, from ambient beauty to disgusting dissonance.
